Shortman Kandjengo
Qualification
Mr Kandjengo is the Acting chief of !Khuisi Traditional Community of Donkerbos/Sonneblom, Omaheke Region, Namibia. The community, situated in a remote village located in east Namibia, consists of the Ju/'hoansi, one of the many indigenous San tribes in Southern Africa, particularly Namibia.
Since 2018, the community has been involved in various technology co-design projects, ranging from virtual and augmented reality to green energy futuring, with the Indigenous Knowledge cluster and Inclusive and Collaborative Innovation Tech Hub at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).
Mr Kandjengo has been a central figure in these projects, facilitating and enabling technology co-design and research activities in the community as a community leader and co-author in various publications. Representing the community, he has attended various conferences and functions, sharing knowledge and perspectives about the community and its involvement in technology design. Recently, he attended the AfriCHI 2023 conference in South Africa, as a workshop co-facilitator and co-author, discussing local community-researcher protocols and showcasing a virtual reality demo based on Ju/'hoansi culture.
