From Cultural to Learning Virtual Reality Experience

This study focuses on facilitating learning within cultural virtual reality (VR) experiences, with a specific emphasis on primary school children. As part of a broader project, the research explores and designs various types of learning support systems within cultural VR environments. The study aims to implement a meticulously tailored learning support system within one of the Himba cultural VR experiences, targeting primary school learners. Through an iterative design process, the learning support system will be developed to enhance educational engagement and outcomes within the cultural VR context. Subsequently, the effectiveness of the learning support system will be evaluated with primary school children, with the overarching goal of ensuring that cultural VR experiences evolve into effective learning platforms. The significance of this study is to safeguard Indigenous Knowledge and ensure that it can be formalized and taught in schools.
