Automating Ethical Engagement Protocols For the Ovahimba Indigenous Community

This research explores the integration of AI technologies with ethical research practices to engage with the Ovahimba, a semi-nomadic indigenous community in northern Namibia and southern Angola. It focuses on synthesising ethical frameworks like OCAP principles and Ubuntu philosophy which guides the Rural Community Engagement Framework into an AI-based system to ensure culturally sensitive, respectful, and autonomous research. This system aims to bridge the gap between theoretical ethics and practical application, promoting trust, self-determination, and culturally relevant research outcomes for the Ovahimba community.
