CO-CREATION OF AN OVAHIMBA MULTIMEDIA MIXED CONTENT REPOSITORY
Over time, a significant amount of information about the Ovahimba communities has been documented, primarily from an external viewpoint. However, this data often lacks input and validation from the community members themselves, raising concerns about its accuracy in portraying their culture. To address this, it was necessary to develop a digital multimedia collection of cultural heritage in collaboration with the Ovahimba community called Omu-Rep, a name derived from the Omuhimba Repository. This approach aimed to ensure that the perspectives of the community are accurately represented and contribute to the preservation of their culture.
The research's primary purpose was to reprocess the raw data gathered previously to co-design and collaboratively develop a distinct multimedia mixed content repository, loaded with data curated and interpreted by members of the Ovahimba community. This process involved carefully selecting, translating, editing, complementing, and enhancing media content to fulfill various objectives.
